Meet Our Genealogy Geniuses!

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to dig into your genealogy, you’ll want to make Mount Clemens Public Library your first stop.

In addition to a genealogy collection that includes thousands of books, microfilms, photographs, documents and database entries, the library’s most valuable resource for researchers is our own “Genealogy Genius Bar!” Experienced researchers volunteer their time to assist our library visitors in the local history and genealogy room, and they have a wealth of knowledge and information to share. All have years of experience in conducting their own family history research, but some have also presented programs, written articles, or worked on indexing and database development projects. Our genealogy geniuses are ready and willing to help you get your genealogy project off the ground.

Our volunteers are normally available to help you Monday through Friday mornings, as well as on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday afternoons. For the most current schedule, it is best to call the library reference desk at 586-469-6200, especially if you are visiting us from out of the immediate area.

The Macomb County Genealogy Group offers many ongoing programs to help researchers, including regular meetings every other Friday at 1 p.m., and on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. MCGG also maintains a blog with program schedules and lots of helpful articles written by one of our genealogy geniuses.
