Library Events Cancelled Through April 13, 2020
As many of you already know, the Governor has issued a State of Emergency throughout Michigan, given the current heightened concerns regarding the COVID-10/Coronavirus pandemic. The Mount Clemens Public Library takes the health and wellness of our patrons and staff very seriously, and while we always use best practices regarding public health and workplace hygiene, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly update you on decisions we have made and what we will be doing going forward to ensure we are being proactive regarding the spread of this virus.
At this time, we have decided to remain open to the public and continuing to function in our normal capacity with some restrictions.
However, if you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you remain home to keep fellow patrons and everyone safe during the next few weeks. If you have questions regarding your account, please call us at 586.469.6200 and we will be more than happy to try to make any accommodations possible. Also, we encourage you to use our online services such as Overdrive and Libby, RBDigital, Mango Languages, and more through our website.
We will be suspending all library programs effective Friday, March 13th through March 31st, 2020. As we get closer to April, we will reassess the status of future programming. This is to help promote the social distancing, as was recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Governor of the State of Michigan.
We have also cancelled all public meetings that have been scheduled at the library through March 31st, 2020. If you have a meeting scheduled here during this time period, you will be contacted by library staff to update you regarding the process of rescheduling those meetings.
We will be posting signage encouraging respiratory hygiene and hand washing technique in public areas. We will also be performing extra cleaning and sanitizing of the library in addition to our routine maintenance services, and we encourage you to return all your materials to the book drops located outside the main entrance to minimize hand to hand contact with staff or other patrons.
