A strong body of research shows that children’s reading skills slide during the summer months without practice. The Mount Clemens Public Library Summer Reading Challenge provides the opportunity and incentive for your child to maintain (or even improve!) their reading skills during the summer months. Consistency is the key; just 20 minutes of reading a day will pay off! Build a library visit (or two!) into your weekly schedule, or visit one of our many Mobile Library stops this summer.
June 20 – July 31 Download the ReadSquared app from Google Play or the App Store, register, and begin logging the number of minutes you read. As you level up, you'll earn digital badges and Brag Tags for a necklace or keyring.
Reading just 20 minutes a day does the trick but there are other ways to earn! Check out our in-app Special Missions, BINGO cards, and Bonus Opportunities along the way.
There are Summer Reading incentive programs at MCPL for every age group: Preschoolers, Kids, Teens and Adults - make it a Family affair!
